Interesting opinion piece from a group of Army authors about the state of combat and deployment readiness amongst Army medics (68W). They cited a variety of lack of experiences with clinical medicine and lack of combat exposure.
I think many of these issues are shared amongst all of the services. The changing landscape going from a mostly a wartime fighting force to a peacetime fighting force has numerous challenges. The interwar period I think is well discussed in a variety of both medical and non-medical (warfighting) contexts.
From the medical perspective, the current peacetime challenges are likely exacerbating by changing conditions of medicine, particularly following COVID-19, and in particular with military medicine undergoing the DHA transition.
